Common Exercises For Fitness

It is a widely held notion that exercising brings fitness. This is quite true but then the exercises need to be done in the proper manner and on a regular basis. Exercising tones up the body parts and muscles and brings about a perfect harmony of the body, mind and soul. The energy levels of the person exercising are uplifted which is often reflected by a boost in the performance in the various pursuits of the person.

Kinds of exercises

Common exercises fall into three categories. These are flexibility exercises (like stretching), aerobic exercises (like walking, running and jogging) and anaerobic exercises (like weight training and sprinting). Each of these has their particular beneficial effects on the human body. While flexibility exercises improve motion of muscles and joints, the aerobic exercises increase cardiovascular endurance. Again, the anaerobic exercises like weight lifting enhance muscle strength.

Jogging, playing basketball or football or badminton or any other outdoor game, swimming, simple walking - all are common exercises. You may even undertake specialized free hand exercises, breathing exercises, Yoga and tai chi for betterment of your health. All these exercises practiced on a daily basis bring about an enhancement in health and energy levels and promotes an all round development.

The traditional exercises hailing from different cultures need special mention in this regard. The tai chi exercises from China and Yoga exercises originating from India are important health enhancers. Though they may have been developed several hundreds or thousands of years ago yet they provide a holistic approach towards healthcare and promotion of well being of the body and mind.

Benefits of exercising

A number of diseases and abnormalities are also checked or kept at bay by taking up a common exercise regimen. People have been known to survive through many an adverse malady by taking recourse to some simple common exercises. They have been found to be highly effective when done regularly. Breathing exercises have particularly been found to be very effective for asthma patients. Certain exercises also effectively aid digestion while certain others provide relief from pain.

The exercises of various types basically achieve three objectives - maintenance of proper weight as per age, sex and height, building up and maintaining of bones, muscles and joints and strengthening immunity power. Besides, they also promote well-being of the mind.
